Coping With Change

Coping with change can be difficult for many neurodivergent individuals. For instance, autistic people may use routines, rules, and rituals to structure the world around them, which might otherwise be perceived as chaotic and unpredictable. Similarly, people with ADHD often use routines to help them focus their attention better. Change - no matter if it’s completely unexpected or a “simple” transition from one activity to another - can be very overwhelming and cause a lot of distress to the person. However, different strategies may be employed to cope with such change. (Source: NAS)
