We All Need Someone
The neurodivergent journey can be empowering, enlightening, and at times challenging.
It often means navigating a world that doesn’t always understand how your brain works, or why you need what you need. But amidst those moments, many of us have had someone who did understand. Someone who offered patience, kindness, or simply stood by us when we needed it most.
That’s who we’re celebrating today.
💌 Who Are You Grateful For?
We recently asked our NEST community:
“Who is someone you are grateful for on your neurodiversity journey?”
The responses were beautiful, emotional, and full of love.
People mentioned parents who advocated for them, friends who listened without judgement, teachers who saw their potential, and colleagues who made the workplace feel safer and more accepting.
Whether that support came through a thoughtful conversation, a patient pause, or a cheer from the sidelines, it mattered. It made a difference.
Let’s Celebrate the Quiet Heroes 💙
Being an ally doesn’t always mean having all the answers. Sometimes, it’s the person who asks, “What do you need right now?” or who says, “I believe in you,” that becomes a lifeline.
The sibling who helps explain things when words don’t come easily
The teacher who tweaks the classroom environment without making it a big deal
The friend who waits out a meltdown without making it awkward
The professional who gives you time, space, and respect
These are the people who create more inclusive worlds, one moment at a time.
Take a Moment to Say Thank You 💬
If someone has helped you feel seen, heard, or understood let them know. A quick message, a tag on social media, or just saying “thank you” out loud can be powerful. Gratitude builds connection, and connection builds community.
💬 Who are you grateful for?
Message them. Hug them (if they like hugs).
Let’s share the love and celebrate the allies, carers, and companions who’ve walked alongside us.
Because nobody walks this journey alone and nobody should have to. 💙
