Valentine’s Day often focuses on romantic love, but at NEST we know that love comes in many forms - and every one of them matters.
For many neurodivergent people, love, connection and relationships can look different, feel different or grow in different ways.
That difference is something to celebrate.
Today, we want to shine a light on all the meaningful relationships that support, empower and uplift us.
Love comes in many forms
Love between friends 🧑🤝🧑
Friendships can be powerful, steady sources of connection. Many autistic people and people with ADHD describe friendships that are deep, loyal and long‑lasting. Sometimes those relationships grow from shared interests, mutual understanding or simply feeling safe together.
These friendships count. They shape our wellbeing every day.
Love within families 👨👩👧👦
Families - chosen or biological - can be important anchors. For some neurodivergent people, family support might be practical, emotional or even just being present without expectation.
Every small act of patience, encouragement and understanding strengthens connection.
Love in romantic relationships 👩❤️💋👨
Romantic relationships don’t follow one “correct” pattern. Some neurodivergent people communicate love through facts, honesty or routines. Others might find connection through shared passions or quiet time together.
There’s no universal way to express affection, and that’s what makes relationships beautifully unique.
Love from pets 🐾
Pets often give a steady, comforting form of companionship. Whether it’s a dog who understands your routine, a cat who sits beside you on hard days, or any beloved animal who brings calm - this is love too.
For many people, pets offer connection without pressure or social demand, which can be deeply grounding.
Neurodivergent love is real, valid and meaningful
Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day loudly, quietly or not at all - you deserve to feel seen.
Neurodivergent people love deeply, thoughtfully and authentically. Sometimes communication looks different. Sometimes emotions are expressed differently. Sometimes relationships grow in their own rhythm.
All of this is okay. All of this is wonderful.
From all of us at NEST 💙💜💚
We want to say a heartfelt Happy Valentine’s Day.
Thank you for being part of our community.
Thank you for valuing inclusion, understanding and compassion.
Love - in every form - builds stronger, kinder communities. And that’s exactly what NEST is all about. 💙💜💚
