Today we’re shining a light on ASN Support Ayrshire, a local charity creating connection, community and understanding for families across Ayrshire.
Who They Are 💛
ASN Support Ayrshire is a volunteer‑led charity run by people with lived experience. They were created to fill the “grey area” many families find themselves in - between services and the reality of daily life - where what’s often missing is connection with others who truly understand.
What They Do 💬
ASN Support Ayrshire offers a range of supportive, community‑based spaces:
🌐 24/7 Online Support
An active Facebook group where families can ask questions, share experiences or simply look for understanding.
A WhatsApp support group for more immediate peer connection.
🏫 Education Support Hub (North Ayrshire)
A unique space that brings families together with senior leaders from North Ayrshire Council’s education department. It’s designed to make conversations open, supportive and solution‑focused - reducing the feeling of “us and them”.
🎉 Events & Meet‑ups
Seasonal and growing over time. These events help families relax, connect and feel part of a community.
🤝 Open to Everyone
No diagnosis is needed. They welcome anyone with additional support needs - including autistic people, people with ADHD, people living with anxiety or anyone who feels they would benefit from support.

Hello, my name's Caroline and I am one of the trustees at ASN Support Ayrshire.
ASN Support Ayrshire is a local charity, but what we do is we sort of connect families and people with ASN together.
Just to build, there is that grey area, so we've got services, we've got the families, but when my daughter was diagnosed, we realised there was just that gap, there was something missing, and it was connecting with other people.
I think it's been about three years now.
Day-to-day, so we've got our Facebook group, which is up and running 24-7.
We've got our support group on WhatsApp now, but we also currently have an education support hub, which is run in North Ayrshire for now.
And essentially what that is, bringing families and senior managers in North Ayrshire Council's education department together. Instead of having that us and them So that families can have an open conversation and have any questions that they've got answered. If there's any concerns, they can raise them how best to tackle these concerns.
So yeah, and we also do events, those are quite seasonal at the moment.
But we're hoping as time goes on, we'll get more events up and running.
No not at all.
No diagnosis is required.
ASN is such a broad term,
We welcome absolutely anybody, even if it's just anxiety you suffer from, or you do have a diagnosis of some sort. That's absolutely fine.
You can search for us on Facebook and on TikTok. We're also on Instagram, or you can find us at, send us a wee e-mail, asnayrshire@gmail.com.
Only our events cost, if that's something you wish to attend, then yeah.
Join the Facebook group. Definitely. It's all about no one knows everything and the whole point about the group is people come together, they may have asking for advice on something or maybe just to vent and the good thing is there's always someone there who's able to offer advice and support or even just a bit of compassion and empathy and understanding to the situation.
Definitely just join the Facebook group and if you want to volunteer for any events, please just get in touch and e-mail us.
Because everybody's just so unique and it's just about educating and raising awareness on neurodiverse conditions.
You're amazing. Absolutely amazing. Like, I genuinely don't know.
I just feel people are just their unique selves and that's what it's all about. It's about encouraging people to be themselves.
We're winging it. Continuously winging it. We don't know what we're doing, but we're doing something.
Send us an e-mail, by all means.
