At NEST, we believe every story matters. Real experiences can help others feel understood, supported, and less alone. That’s why we’re creating a series of videos to celebrate the voices of our community and shine a light on neurodevelopmental differences (NDD).
🎥 What’s This Project About?
As part of Neurodiversity Celebration week, we are looking to celebrate local neurodivergent people by sharing some short videos of people talking about their strengths and successes, or the strengths and successes of a neurodivergent loved one or friend.
Our goal is to create short videos that highlight the diversity and strengths within our community. These stories will be shared publicly as part of NEST’s social media campaigns.
Please Note: This is not an engagement exercise or a space to share concerns about services, education, or support. This specific project is an opportunity to share your personal experiences of neurodivergence in a way that inspires and connects with others.
✅ Who Can Take Part?
We’re looking for volunteers from Ayrshire who are 12 years old or above and feel comfortable being filmed and speaking to the camera about their experiences.
You can take part if you are:
A neurodivergent individual (diagnosed or not)
A parent or carer
A sibling, grandparent or family relative
A partner of a neurodivergent individual
A child of a neurodivergent parent
We welcome people from all walks of life. Your perspective matters.
📅 Key Details
Each film will last around 5 minutes (at most).
Filming dates: End of February / start of March 2026 – Exact dates will be agreed and confirmed with each participant.
Let us know if you’d like to take part by: Sunday 15th February 2026
Location: Ayrshire – Filming location will be agreed and confirmed with each participant based on the most accessible and appropriate venue for the person.
⚠ Important to Know
We’d love to hear from as many people as possible. However, due to the limited time and availability we have as a team, we will only be able to share 7 stories for this project. If we have interest from more than 7 people, we will offer the opportunity to those individuals to be involved in similar projects when they come up in the future.
🔒 Your Privacy
Your information will be stored securely in line with NHS Ayrshire & Arran data protection policies and used only for NEST/NHS Ayrshire & Arran projects. (Please note: Your personal story that you share on your video will NOT be private and will be shared publicly on nest.scot and our social media channels).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) ❓
Is this an engagement exercise?
No. This project is not about gathering feedback on services, education, or support. It’s about sharing personal experiences of neurodivergence to inspire and connect with others. If you have feedback about services, please use the appropriate channels for that.
Will my story definitely be included?
Unfortunately, we can’t include every story. We only have capacity to film 7 individuals for this series. If you’re not selected this time, please don’t feel disheartened - your story still matters. If you agree, we’ll keep your details and may contact you for future opportunities.
Why can’t everyone be included?
Filming takes time and resources, and we want to make sure each story is captured thoughtfully. The 7 videos will reflect a range different experiences and perspectives.
What happens if you’re not able to share my story for this project?
If we’re not able to share your story for this project, we’ll let you know. If you’ve agreed for us to keep your details, we will reach out for future projects.
Will my story be shared publicly?
YES! These videos will be shared on NEST’s social media channels and website and may be used in campaigns to raise awareness and celebrate neurodivergence. Before you agree to take part in this project, it is important to be aware that the NEST website and social media channels are NOT closed groups and CAN be seen by anyone. Anyone online is able to see all our content. It is also important to note that any content on the NEST website or social media channels is owned by NHS Ayrshire and Arran and can be used by them in wider publications. Full details of this are on the consent form.
Is my information safe?
Yes. Your details will be stored securely in line with NHS Ayrshire & Arran data protection policies.
