Language matters. It shapes how we understand each other and how we build inclusive communities.
This Terminology Tuesday, we’re exploring five foundational terms that help us talk about neurodiversity with clarity and respect. 💬💙
💙 Neurodiversity
Neurodiversity acknowledges the natural diversity of human minds, including neurotypical and neurodivergent individuals. The idea that neurological differences—such as autism, ADHD, and dyslexia—are natural variations of the human brain.
💜 Neurodivergent
Describes individuals whose brain functions differ from what is considered typical.
💚 Neurotypical
Refers to individuals whose neurological development aligns with societal norms.
💙 Neurodevelopmental Difference
A broad term for conditions that affect how the brain develops. Examples of neurodevelopmental differences include autism, ADHD & dyslexia.
💜 Acquired Neurodivergence

Understanding these terms helps us foster empathy, reduce stigma, and create a more inclusive world. 🌍✨
